Assignment – Interpersonal: a. Conduct an interview with a friend (not from HCI) or family member. Find out from their point of view on prejudice and discrimination. Either record the interview or write out the interview transcript.
What do you think is the difference between prejudice and discrimination?
Response: I think that prejudice is more crude than discrimination, and that discrimination is more of like discreet.
However, prejudice is usually done by a large group of people and they do it less discreetly.
Question: Have you read the book “To Kill A Mockingbird”?
Response: Yes.
Question: Can you tell me some examples of prejudice and discrimination in the book?
Response: Ms. Stephanie Crawford was obviously prejudiced against the blacks.
Tom Robinson was being accused wrongly by the Ewells.
That probably showed a sense of discrimination as people took the blacks to be scapegoats and they think that they have a higher social status as compared to them.
Question: As a conclusion, do you think that prejudice and discrimination should continue?
Response: No, I don’t think that prejudice should continue.
But I think discrimination is ok as long as it is just a joke and not too serious.
Interviewee does not wish to be named. >.<
